Is it okay to talk during my massage or facial?
Please feel free to talk with your therapist during your scheduled treatment. In fact, communication during your massage can help the therapist determine the best strategy for meeting your specific needs. Alternatively, you may prefer to sit back, relax and quietly enjoy the Zen environment at On The Boulevard. Some people are so relaxed, they actually fall asleep. This is okay too.
What should I wear to my massage or facial?
Whatever you like! Remember, you will be covered under a sheet or a blanket at all times. Some massage clients choose to wear underwear or swimsuits, but most people disrobe completely. During a facial, your therapist my ask you to remove your shirt so that it does not get dirty during your treatment.
Will my massage hurt?
The answer is maybe. “Depth” is the term massage therapists use to describe how much pressure they use during the massage session. Some people prefer a lighter massage, where the strokes are flowing and gentle. Others prefer deeper work, where the muscles are checked for trigger points and tightness. In most cases, the deeper the massage, the more discomfort you will experience. However, a deeper massage is better at alleviating chronic pain problems that build up over time. Please let your therapist know if the pressure is too deep or too light. Never endure a massage that is too deep or is painful. You will never offend a therapist by asking him or her to take it easy on you.
Will I feel sore after my massage?
At the end of your massage you should feel very relaxed and even a little sleepy. Immediately following your massage and for a day or two following, you may even feel as if you worked out. This is temporary and a healthy part of your body’s recovery process
I have fibromyalgia (or arthritis). Is massage safe for me?
